The walled city of Angkor Thom is the perfect
place to start exploring Angkor on foot,
as there are many walking trails criss-crossing
this ancient capital. One of the most enjoyable
walks is around the outer walls of Angkor
Thom itself, which offers access to several
small sanctauaries marking the corners of
the city. This is a very peaceful way to
take in the life of villagers around the
temples, fishing in the moats and harvesting
in the nearby fields. Click

| Phnom Kulen
and Kbal Spean |
|
The holy mountains of Kbal Spean and Phnom Kulen
offer a great escape from the plains around Siem
Reap. Both are considered holy sites by Khmer
people as the springs that come from these mountains
flow into the Siem Reap River and Tonle Sap Lake,
giving life and fertility to the lands of Cambodia.
Both mountain rivers have carved riverbeds, complete
with lingas and images of Hindu Gods such as Shiva
and Vishnu, hence the name ‘The River of
a Thousand of Lingas’. Kbal Spean is surrounded
by lush jungle and a beautiful spot for exploring
on foot. Phnom Kulen is an immense plateau and
home to many sacred sites, including early Angkorian
temples, an immense reclining Buddha and a collection
of gargantuan stone animals guarding the mountain.

Kirirom
is the most accessible of Cambodia’s
national parks, just 130km south of the
capital, and known for its pleasant climate,
pine forests and streams. In the lower reaches
of the park, there are also extensive tracts
of moist tropical lowland forest, which
provide a habitat for a variety. Click

| Trekking in
Bokor |
Bokor is a stunning colonial-era hill station,
set atop a 1000-metre plateau that offers
some of the most breathtaking views in Cambodia
on a clear day. As well as a cluster of
enigmatic abandoned buildings on the mountaintop,
there are plenty of waling trails across
the plateau to keep you on your toes, as
well as the popular Popokvil Falls.

Ratanakiri is one of the easiest places
in Cambodia to undertake an adventurous
trek. The most beautiful lake in Cambodia,
Boeng Yak Loam, is located a short distance
from the provincial capital, and we can
arrange local Tompuon guides for exploring
the villages here. Further afield are extensive
rivers, minority villages and the country’s
largest protected area, Virachey National
Park. We have a range of programmes for
trekking Ratanakiri including day treks,
boat and trekking combinations and longer
trips into remote areas. Click
