| Hanuman Tourism-Voyages
is proud to support ecotourism, community tourism
and responsible tourism inititiatives in Cambodia.
We take these new areas very seriously at Hanuman
and are consistently trying to promote such projects
to a wider audience. |

Hanuman
is closely involved in the Chambok community
tourism scheme at Kirirom National Park.
The Chambok project at Kirirom is run by
local NGO Mlup Baitong, but Hanuman acts
as their travel representative, arranging
transport to the park and promoting the
project in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. To
date we have sent several large groups of
Cambodian students to visit the park and
are always trying to encourage more foreigners
to make the trip, as it is both an educational
and enjoyable experience. A community visit
to Kirirom involves a traditional ox cart
ride, a light jungle walk to a scenic waterfall
and an introduction to the flora and fauna
of the park, all seen through the eyes of
a local guide who knows the park inside
out. |

The
DRIVE project in Ratanakiri has been designed
to train tour guides from minority communities
in Ratanakiri and introduces visitors to the lifestyle
of the Tompuon people. Small groups can take a
guided walk through the forest near the beautiful
crater lake of Yeak Loam and visit a Tompuon village
nearby for a closer look at their relationship
with the land. |

Up in Siem Reap, Osmose takes individuals
and small groups into the Prek Toal Bird
Sanctuary to view huge numbers of rare
large water birds such as cranes, storks
and pelicans. The trip includes a journey
through the atmospheric flooded forests
on the edge of the lake. We work in partnership
with Osmose and are also close to Crane
International, who are working to protect
the extremely rare Sarus Crane, found
in only two places in the world, Phnom
Srok in Cambodia and Soc Trang in the
Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. We can
arrange visits to Ang Trapeng Thmor in
Banteay Meanchey province, as a long day
trip from Siem Reap. The Sarus Crane is
famous as the bird featured on the bas
reliefs of the Bayon.

Finally,
Hanuman trips through the floating village of
Chong Kneas stop at the Gecko Environment Centre,
as it is the perfect introduction to the biodiversity
of the Great Lake. There is lots of interesting
information available here and local products
are sold on behalf of cooperatives from lakeside
communities. |

Hanuman
is always looking to promote more schemes of this
nature, whether to promote ecotourism, community-based
tourism or pro-poor tourism. If you know of any
schemes in the Mekong region that you would like
us to promote, please send us the details and
we will be happy to include them in our popular
website. |
