DAY
1: Siem Reap to Battambang We travel
by speedboat along the Sangker River to
the charming city of Battambang, passing
near Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary. After lunch
in town, we follow the Sangker River to
the Angkorian temple of Wat Ek Phnom, dating
from the 11th century. We return to town
for a stroll around the market and dinner.
DAY
2: Wat Banan and Phnom Sampeau
In the morning, we travel to the moutain temple
of Wat Banan. This small, graceful temple offers
excellent views of the surrounding countryside.
We take a picnic lunch in the open before continuing
to the holy mountain of Phnom Sampeau. We explore
the caves and shrines on this limestone bluff.
We return to town for dinner and overnight.
DAY
3: Banteay Chhmar and Banteay Top
Leaving Battambang, we head north through
Sisophon to the jungle temple complex
of Banteay Chhmar. After exploring the
extensive ruins, we have a picnic at the
site. In the afternoon we stop at the
curious ruin of Banteay Top before stopping
for dinner and overnight in Sisophon.
DAY
4: Sisophon to Siem Reap
We travel from Sisophon to Siem Reap where the tour
ends.
