The warm waters and islands off Sihanoukville offer some amazing scuba diving opportunities. Coral encrusted reefs surround many of the smaller islands, supporting an incredible diversity of hard and soft corals, sponges, anemones and a wonderful range of fish life including sting rays, moray eels and dolphins. Top quality dive sites can be found around the islands such as Koh Rung Samloem and Koh Kon within a two hour boat trip of Sihanoukville, making for an easy day trip, but the very best sites around Koh Tang, Koh Prins and Poulo Wai are 4-8 hours out and a longer stay is recommended.
Visibility is very good in the diving season from October to June and ranges from 10-25 meters, though can be variable in the monsoon season. Most of the dive sites are relatively shallow, around 15 meters, and there’s much waiting to be discovered both by beginners and experienced divers. Most of the off-shore islands are sparsely inhabited, so quiet sandy beaches await divers who can picnic, swim, snorkel and relax between dives.
